The Raspberry is a small and sweet fruit which is grown for the fresh market and for commercial processing to manufacture purees, juices, jams, yoghurts, wines, smoothies, ice cream and cereals. Dried raspberries are also very delicious in baked goods or mueslis.
Its appearance may have been influenced the common name as “rasp” means “rough berry” in the Old English language.
There are over 200 varieties of raspberries, and they can be found in red, purple, black and gold but the red raspberry (Rubus idaeus) seems to be the most common type found in the supermarkets and in most gardens.
Raspberries are a delicious and healthy as they contain more vitamin C than an orange, also have plenty of antioxidants and have a low-glycemic index.
At Tobien Trading we offer Freeze Dried Raspberries in whole, grits or powder, as well as products from organic and conventional farming.
